Helen's Roof

This is an oil, collage, charcoal piece. Taken mainly from old photos. Of a time when Mom, Dad and their friends were filled with hope and aspirations growing up in Brownville just before WWII descended on them. I think of this period as my parents' golden age. Everything was so alive and the Brooklyn Bridge gave way to blue skies. The only foreshadowing of a darker future are the red threads sewn into the canvas on my mother's breasts.
